Rep. Osborne Announces Grants Available for Rural Housing Assistance

Washington, D.C .— U.S. Congressman Tom Osborne (NE-03) announced on Tuesday that USDA Rural Development has made $1 million in technical and supervisory assistance grants available to provide housing assistance in rural areas, according to Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns.

"Access to safe and affordable housing is key for a thriving community, and the need for housing is just as great in rural areas as it is in urban areas," said Rep. Osborne. "These grants will help low-income residents in rural areas to obtain housing or continue to live in their current homes."

Funding from these grants will support financial counseling and homeownership programs that will assist rural residents in finding adequate housing or continuing to occupy the housing they already have. The grants will be made available to qualifying organizations, including agencies, nonprofit corporations and faith-based institutions.
